Listing Description

If you truly want to experience what the Dead Sea is all about, a visit to Kalia Beach, one of the best-known beaches of the Dead Sea, is a must. Kalia Beach is located at the northern area of the Dead Sea, a beautiful, calm spot away from the more crowded hotel area at Ein Bokek. A lovely terrace built above the beach provides a gorgeous view of the turquoise waters of the Dead Sea and the surrounding golden-brown mountains. There’s an entrance fee that includes access to all amenities and an additional fee for camping.

What you can find at Kalia Beach

Kalia Beach is well organized and suitable for visitors of all ages, providing various amenities to keep everyone happy:

  • Natural mud area – you can rub yourself in healthy black mud and then observe the wonders it works for your skin.
  • Camping area – the beach has a large camping area, where you can either bring your own tent or sleep at a huge tent set up on the beach designated for up to 40 people.
  • Toilets and showers – the showers include dressing rooms with lockers.
  • Lifeguard services
  • Beach chairs and sunshades
  • Restaurant – an authentic Bedouin tent that serves Bedouin-style meals. There are also various food stands offering falafel, hot dogs, and crepes
  • The lowest bar in the world is right on the beach!
  • Barbecue area where you can cook your own food
  • Designated parking area

If you plan on camping at the beach for several days, you can make good use of your time by traveling to nearby attractions such as the Qumran Caves, Qasr Al Yahud (a famous baptism site located in the Jordan Valley, just north of the Dead Sea), the Einot Tzukim nature reserve (a lovely green reserve with natural pools of mineral water), and more.

How to get to Kalia Beach

Kalia Beach is located right off the exit from Highway 1 to Road 90, the road that runs along the Dead Sea. When you arrive at the Lido junction (you’ll recognize it by the gas station), turn right and drive about 2 kilometers. The beach is located next to Kibbutz Kalia. It is a 30-minute drive from Jerusalem and a one-hour drive from Tel Aviv.
