Visiting the Israeli and Jordanian shores can be worthwhile when the trip already includes the two countries and you have at least five days around the crossing. It is usually a poor use of time if your only goal is to float twice. The second shore adds a different country, travel system, landscape orientation, and set of attractions, not a meaningfully better version of the same beach hour.
Plan the border first. The King Hussein Bridge, called the Allenby crossing in Israel, is the closest land crossing to the northern Dead Sea corridor, but visas, passport eligibility, opening hours, fees, and transport changes can determine whether the plan works at all.

First, understand what changes between the shores
The two sides should not be described as one identical visitor product. The Allenby and King Hussein crossing controls the plan
As checked on 4 September 2026, the Israel Airports Authority listed the outbound passenger hall at Allenby as open from 08:00 to 17:00 Sunday through Thursday, 08:00 to 15:30 Friday, and closed Saturday. It asked passengers to arrive about three hours before closing. A special 2026 notice extended inbound hours on Sundays and Thursdays, but not outbound hours.

The same source states that Israelis may not enter Jordan through Allenby. It also requires a passport valid for at least six months and an entry visa into Jordan for departing travellers. Jordan’s tourism authority likewise says visas must be arranged in advance for this crossing and that travellers change vehicles at the border.
Do not assume a rental car crosses with you. Build the day as three separate movements: your departure point to the terminal, processing and terminal transport, then the Jordan terminal to your next base.
Visa and fee rules need passport-specific checking
Jordan entry rules vary by nationality and crossing. A visa that can be issued at an airport or another land terminal may not be available at King Hussein Bridge. The Jordan Pass is a sightseeing package, not automatic proof that every visa or crossing requirement has been met.
On the Israeli side, a departing passenger fee applies. The Israel Airports Authority’s 2026 fee notice listed 208 NIS for an Allenby departing passenger, subject to the stated exemptions. Recheck the fee, payment method, counter commission, passport rule, and holiday schedule shortly before travel.

A realistic five-day structure
This example moves from Israel to Jordan. Reverse it only after confirming the entry rules and operating direction for your dates.

Choose public beach, day access, or your resort’s shore according to the facilities you need. Add Al-Maghtas only if its current hours, onward transfer, and your energy make the day comfortable.
Day 5: Continue through Jordan

With six or seven days, the itinerary becomes easier. Add one night where it reduces a long transfer rather than filling every day with another major site.
Can you visit the two shores in one day?
Do not plan it as a normal sightseeing day. The terminal’s processing window, arrival cutoff, vehicle change, and drives on each shore leave little control over the schedule. A same-day out-and-back also doubles the border risk and may conflict with entry rules.

What is worth repeating?
Repeat the float only if the second setting matters to you. Morning light from one shore and evening light from the other can feel different, and the surrounding attractions are unquestionably different. The water experience itself remains a careful face-up float at a managed access point.
Mud availability varies by beach, season, maintenance, and whether a product or treatment is included. Do not collect material from an unmanaged shore. A second country does not guarantee a more authentic mud experience.
The better alternative for a short trip
For a short Israel itinerary, choose one well-run beach day.
