Metzoke Dragot Travelers Village sits on a cliff ledge 20 metres above the Judean Desert, with the Dead Sea glittering to the west and open desert mountains stretching east behind you. It is one of the most dramatic sleeping positions on the Israeli side of the Dead Sea — not a resort, but a genuine travellers village that has grown organically over the years to host hikers, families, couples, and groups.
The village offers several tiers of accommodation on the same site: a campsite for those who bring their own tent, shared travellers rooms, boutique Tenty glamping units with glass-door views directly onto the Dead Sea, sea-facing Mul Yam rooms, and fully-equipped Top of the Cliff apartments that sleep up to eight. Metzoke Bar, open every day at the cliff edge, serves coffee, alcohol, food, and snacks — it is not kosher. A therapy cabin and occasional live concerts round out the experience. This is a place that rewards unhurried people.
Accessible rooms
The Tenty units are the signature option: 18 m² boutique glamping cabins with glass doors that frame an unobstructed Dead Sea view, a double bed, TV, coffee machine, and private shower. An outdoor paddling pool sits on the shared patio. Minimum two-night stay applies on weekends and holidays.
Travellers Rooms (Arava, Ye’elim, and Nof Dragot) are simple and functional. Each has a coffee corner, mini-fridge, air conditioning, private shower and toilet, and a shared patio. Arava offers a double or twin; Ye’elim fits 2–4 single beds; Nof Dragot fits a double plus three singles — useful for small families or friend groups.
Top of the Cliff apartments are the largest option at 80 m² each, sleeping up to eight. Two en-suite bedrooms (one double, four singles total), a living room with sofa-bed, and a fully equipped kitchen make these suitable for families or groups. Crib available on request.
The campsite accommodates those who bring their own tent. The Mul Yam category offers sea-view rooms — full details via the official site. All rooms except the campsite include towels and bedding.
Metzoke Dragot suits hikers and desert walkers who want a dramatic base without driving far from the trail. The Tenty units appeal to couples looking for something more intimate than an Ein Bokek hotel, with a real cliff-edge setting. The Top of the Cliff apartments work well for families or small groups who want self-catering space and panoramic views. Groups on field trips or desert education programs also use the site regularly.
This is not a spa resort. There is no Dead Sea bathing on site — the shore is roughly 25 km away. The appeal is the desert itself: the view, the silence, the bar on the cliff, and the access to wadi hikes and canyon trails right outside the door.

Metzoke Dragot sits on the northwestern bank of the Dead Sea in the Judean Desert, on a cliff face above Murabat Wadi — a dry ravine that faces the sea. The site is accessed via Route 90 (the Dead Sea Highway); you leave the highway and climb a winding road to reach the village.
From the cliff, the view spans both the Dead Sea and the open desert. The area is known for desert streams, caves, and wadi hiking. Nearby landmarks include Ein Gedi Nature Reserve and Masada National Park to the south, and Qumran to the north. The Metzoke Dragot beach — a sandy shore below the cliff, across Route 90, with a freshwater stream and natural sulfur spring — is one of the few sandy Dead Sea beaches on the Israeli side. Getting there requires driving down from the village.
