Few experiences are comparable to the rush of rappelling down the canyons near the Dead Sea. This is the best adrenaline adventure for beginners, because it is fun, safe, and does not require any special skill!

This Dead Sea Canyoning Adventure is a bi-weekly tour that takes participants rappelling over the ancient city of Qumran. The canyon itself is located just to the North of the Dead Sea, and has a great view over it as well as over the rocky kingdom of Jordan. The adventure includes a hike, rappelling, and the exploration of ancient ruins.

This tour takes place every Monday and Thursday at 9:30 AM

The price includes:
→ Guidance from a licensed Wild-Trails guide.
→ All necessary rappelling and safety equipment.
→ Refreshments and desert-style tea/coffee.

The price does not include:
→Personal expenses.
→ Entrance fee to Qumran National Park.
→ Water (please bring 1L per person).
→ Transportation (available at an additional charge).
→ Coverage for any equipment damage incurred due to carelessness.
→ Anything not agreed upon in advance with Wild-Trails.

Trail Description:

The start point is at the entrance of Qumran National Park, at the picnic tables next to the parking lot.
There, all participant will receive the helmets and harnesses necessary for a safe rappel.
Once everyone is ready, the 40 minutes hike to the top of the canyon will start.

At the top we will take a few moments to enjoy the beautiful view of the Dead Sea and Jordan.
After admiring the view, it will be time to start the rappelling adventure. After that we will have a chance to crawl through and learn about the ancient aqueducts of Qumran.

The tour will end with some relaxation, with the aid of delicious desert tea and cookies.

This adventure can also be booked as a private tour!

Starting point: Qumran National Park entrance.

Difficulty levels: Walking – easy to moderate, Abseiling/Rappelling – easy

Age groups: 10 and above. Participants under 18 must receive signed permission from parent or legal guardian.

Necessary experience: No previous experience necessary.

Abseiling height: 35 meters.

What to bring: backpack, hat, closed-toe shoes, 2 liters of water, sunblock, snacks, long shirts and pants for crawling, and a change of clothes (optional).

Date and times are subject to changes according to weather conditions, security conditions, and decisions made by the trip leader in the field.
